  • 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk (preferably 2% or whole)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 pound French bread (diced)


Instructions

  1. Spray a 9×13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray; set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until combined. Scatter this mixture in the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. In a large bowl, lightly beat the eggs. Add milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, ginger, and salt; whisk until well combined.
  4. Gently toss diced French bread into the egg mixture until evenly coated.
  5. Transfer the bread mixture to the prepared pan, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight.
