Description

Indulge in the flaky bliss of homemade chocolate croissants, a delicious pastry that transforms any breakfast into a gourmet experience. With buttery layers and rich chocolate filling, these croissants are perfect for brunch gatherings, special occasions, or cozy mornings at home. The process of making them is not just rewarding but also fun, allowing both novice and experienced bakers to enjoy the art of pastry-making.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Instant Yeast
  • 1 cup Cold Whole Milk (or Almond Milk)
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 6 oz Chocolate Batons (or High-quality Chocolate Chips)
  • 1 large Egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon Milk (for egg wash)
  • 1 cup Confectioners' Sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Gradually add cold milk until a soft dough forms; knead until smooth.
  2. Chill butter between parchment sheets until firm, then incorporate it into the dough by rolling out and folding it in.
  3. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and fold it like a letter three times, chilling in between.
  4. Cut triangles from the final rolled-out dough, placing chocolate batons at the wide ends before rolling tightly.
  5. Let the shaped croissants rise on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper until doubled in size.
  6. Brush with an egg wash made of beaten egg and milk before baking at 400°F (200°C) for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Dust with confectioners' sugar before serving.
