Ingredients
- 320 grams semolina (fine or medium grind)
- 180 grams granulated sugar
- 240 grams plain yogurt
- 115 grams melted butter
- 5 grams baking powder
- Zest of 2 medium oranges
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 480 ml water (for syrup)
- 350 grams granulated sugar (for syrup)
- 15 ml lemon juice
- 15 ml orange juice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a 23 cm (9 inch) round cake pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine semolina, sugar, baking powder, and orange zest.
- Stir in yogurt, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Score the batter into desired shapes and garnish with blanched almonds or extra orange zest.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown; check doneness with a toothpick.
- While baking, prepare the syrup by heating water, sugar, lemon juice, and orange juice until dissolved.
