- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup butter, melted or room temperature
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line an 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper.
- Cream the unsalted butter in a stand mixer until fluffy. Add sugar, vanilla extract, and salt; mix well. Gradually incorporate the all-purpose flour until a dough forms and press it into the pan evenly. Bake for 15 minutes.
- In a bowl, toss sliced apples with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
- For the topping, mix remaining flour with brown sugar and cut in melted butter until crumbly.
- Increase oven temperature to 350°F (175°C). Layer half of the topping over crust, add apples, then sprinkle remaining topping on top. Bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
