  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (divided)
  • 2 cups prepared mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Optional: chopped green onions or chives


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, onion, garlic powder, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and half the ketchup. Mix until well combined.
  3. Press the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish and spread the remaining ketchup on top. Bake for 20–25 minutes.
  4. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the meatloaf layer and sprinkle with cheese and optional green onions or chives.
  5. Bake again for an additional 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Garnish with green onions or chives if desired before serving.
