- 2 teaspoons light brown sugar
- 1 Tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 Tablespoons Asian Garlic Chili Sauce or Sambal Oelek
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2/3 cup fresh basil leaves
- Cooked Jasmine rice (for serving)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sauté sliced shallots until translucent, then add garlic and ginger, cooking briefly.
- Add bell pepper and sauté until tender yet crisp.
- Incorporate ground chicken (or turkey), breaking it up while cooking until no longer pink.
- Mix in light brown sugar, hoisin sauce, and chili sauce until well combined.
- Pour in chicken broth; thicken the sauce using a cornstarch slurry.
- Stir in fresh basil leaves until wilted.
- Serve over cooked Jasmine rice or in lettuce wraps.
